Three Years In A Paragraph

My wife and I both went to the Franciscsan University of Steubenville, and as alumni we are entitled to a lifetime subscription to Franciscan Way. What a bargain! Anyhow, I finally got around to letting the “Class Notes” section what we’re up to. It was enlightening to crystallize the last three years into a paragraph…

On May 18, 2002, Bill Powell (Apprentices of St. Joseph, 2001) and Beth Griffiths (Stella Mariae, 2001) embarked on a shared lifetime of having children, paying taxes, and getting lost in major cities. After a stint in conventional jobs, they decided that life was too important to let it rot away in their respective cubicles. They are currently interns on an organic farm. They plan to buy a few acres and grow their own food and wood, leaving enough free time to foster culture and community with their neighbors. If anyone has any suggestions on where a clutch of like-minded Catholics might already be gathered, they’d be grateful for a word at bill@billpowellisalive.com. Meanwhile, Bill is also writing stories, humor columns, articles, and a fantasy novel (still in revision), and he keeps a regular blog of their farming adventures at www.billpowellisalive.com. Last, and most important, they have been blessed with a daughter, Cariysa Marie, who is lovely beyond song.

Yep. You start thinking too much, and before you know it, you’re in a cabin in western Maryland. Where next? I can’t wait.
